Jennifer is a stay-at-home mom who used to work in physical therapy clinics.  She came across this Turkish marbling art form (Ebru) about 8 years ago while taking a class on it.  She decided that with her daughters gearing up for college, she wanted to generate an income while still tending to her girls.  She started her business about 3.5 years ago traveling all over for parties and events.  With having so much equipment and tools to go along with making a marbled scarf, Jennifer decided to turn her basement into her own personal studio about a year and a half ago and has been having so much fun with it!  Its super cute and cozy atmosphere really helps get your creative mind going and she's great at explaining how to do each step.   A blog series featuring people and businesses in our surrounding area of Naperville, Plainfield and Aurora.A blog series featuring people and businesses in our surrounding area of Naperville, Plainfield and Aurora.A blog series featuring people and businesses in our surrounding area of Naperville, Plainfield and Aurora. First you have to add a thickening agent to the water which is in a long, rectangular basin.

Next, you take any of the many hues of acrylic paint and start dropping the colors onto the water.  You can add as may or as few as you'd like.

From here you can either use a rake with pre-measured lines to create symmetric lines and patterns or you can free-hand and swirl and pull as you'd like.

Once you're happy with the design, you take a fresh silk scarf and with another person, pull it tight and carefully lower it onto the paint.

After you've made sure the ends and corners have paint, you carefully lift the scarf and rinse in a bucket of cool water and hang it up to drip dry.  And that's that!
